- Gravity Bike Rules -

  1. Non-faired GravityBike
    1. General
      1. Kickstands, chain guard, all reflectors and related brackets must be removed.
      2. Cranks, pedals, chain and all gears or sprockets must be removed.
      3. No part of the bike may extend more than 5" past the front tire.
      4. No part of the bike may extend past the rear tire.
      5. Kneeling trays are allowed
          1. May not exceed 6" each in width
          2. Must be securely fastened.
      6. Maximum wheel base is fifty (50) inches.
    2. Identification
      1. Number plate must be used on the front of the bike.
      2. Plate must be no more than 120 square inches in size and flat.
      3. Numbers must be 4" tall.
      4. Plate and numbers must be of highly contrasting colors
      5. Plate must be mounted at the same angle as the head tube OR the forks.
      6. Plate must be securely mounted.

       

    3. Weight
      1. Maximum bike weight not to exceed 36 lbs.
      2. Weight must be securely fastened.
      3. Liquid weight is not allowed.
      4. No moving weight is allowed.
    4. Frames
      1. No sharp or jagged edges to remain exposed.
      2. No rust shall be visible.
      3. All welds are to be free from cracks and defects.

       

    5. Bottom Bracket
      1. Any parts in the bottom bracket area must not be able to propel the bike in any way.
    6. Forks
      1. Forks are to be sized for 20" wheels.
      2. All welds must be free of cracks.
      3. No rust shall be visible.
      4. Handlebars attached to the forks are allowed. Must be securely attached.
    7. Wheels
      1. Wheels are to be the type used for 20" bicycles only.
      2. Wheel covers are allowed on the rear wheel only.
      3. Axles may not extend more than ¼ inch past the axle nut or not visible.
      4. No wing nuts are allowed to secure the wheels to the frame or fork.
      5. Axle pegs are allowed on the rear wheel only, pegs must not be the only means of securing the rear wheel.
    8. Tires
      1. Tire pressure may not exceed the maximum rating of the tire.
      2. Additional liners or weighting may be inserted in the tires.
      3. Nothing is to be added, other than air, inside the tubes.
    9. Brakes
      1. Brakes must be used on the front and rear wheels.
      2. Brakes must be in good general working order.
      3. Brake pads or shoes must be in good condition and tightened properly.
      4. Brake cables must be in good condition and free from any fraying.
      5. Cable ends must have ferrules crimped in place.
      6. Hydraulic brakes must be free from leaks.
    10. Handle Bars
      1. Bar may not exceed 24" in width.
      2. Bars and any welds must be free from cracks.
      3. Bar grips are choice of the rider, none are required.
      4. Bar ends must be sealed or otherwise plugged. No open ends allowed.
      5. Padding of no less than 1/4" thickness is required on the stem and handlebar area.
    11. Seat
      1. A seat or other form of protection to keep rider away from the rear wheel is required.
      2. Seats must be securely fastened.
      3. The seat must not have any exposed sharp edges.

     

     

  2. ¾ Fairing Gravity Bike
    1. General
      1. All kickstands, chain guards, reflectors and related brackets must be removed.
      2. Cranks, pedals, chain and all gears or sprockets must be removed.
      3. Knee trays are allowed
          1. May not exceed 6" each in width
          2. Must be securely fastened
      4. Maximum wheel base is 50"
    2. Fairing
      1. Fairing may be made of any durable material.
      2. Fairing must be securely fastened to the bike frame.
      3. Rider must be able to exit the fairing without assistance.
      4. Fairing may not impair rider visibility in any way.
      5. Riders’ body and legs must be visible from the side.
      6. Fairing or any other part of the bike must not exceed 24" in width.
      7. No part of the fairing may extend more than three (3) inches below the lowest metal edge of the rim at it’s highest point.
      8. Fairing or any other part of the front of the bike may not extend more than six (6) inches past the front tire.
      9. Fairing or any other part of the back of the bike may not exceed more than twenty-four (24) inches past the rear tire.
      10. A 4" number is required on the front of the fairing.
          1. Number must be of a highly contrasting color to the fairing color.
    3. Weight
      1. Maximum bike weight not to exceed 60 lbs.
      2. Weight must be securely fastened to the bike.
      3. Liquid weight is not allowed.
      4. No moving weight is allowed.
    4. Frames
      1. No sharp or jagged edges to remain exposed.
      2. No rust shall be visible.
      3. All welds are to be free from cracks and defects.
