About GSI Events and Competitions
Gravity Sports International determines race format and divisions that will run. The format and order are selected to allow everyone a chance to race within the time allotted for the event.
GSI employs "point racing". Point Racing uses a predetermined number of heats where points are earned corresponding to the riders' finishing position. Riders' points are then tallied for their final over all score and position for that class or division. The rider with the lowest point score will be declared the winner of that class or division with the next lowest scoring rider receiving second place and so on. Points earned in each individual event will not be used to determine the season points standing.
Formats GSI may utilize include;
- Timed Racing - consists of one pilot on the course competing for the fastest time.
- Elimination Heat - races consisting of 2 or more riders where one or more riders are eliminated during each heat until a winner is decided.
- Dual Racing - consists of two pilots racing each other. First across the finish line advances or wins.
- Mass events - minimum of four racers per heat. The first two racers to cross the finish line advances or wins.
- Super Mass - Super mass events will have a minimum of six racers per heat. The first three racers to cross the finish line advances or wins. GSI has run this event for BUTTBOARDERS ONLY to the delight of racers and spectators.
Another fun diversion GSI likes to offer is the Bucket Brigade. From the top, riders in teams must carry a full bucket of water with them on their street luge or buttboard, passing off the bucket to their team members along the course. Exciting, fun and usually wet, the Bucket Brigade is a great break from the regular racing.
Gravity Sports International competitions are grouped into divisions based on aquired skill level including:
- Junior - Open to all persons ages 6 to 14, no previous racing experience required.
- Novice - Open to persons at least 15 years old with no experience in any sanctioned racing event.
- Amateur - Open to persons at least 15 years old with racing experience in sanctioned events.
- Pro - Open to persons with experience and proven ability to race competitively.
GSI encourages NEW riders to attend their gravity competitions as they are the best way to learn about the sports. The goal of Gravity Sports International is to hold events that are challenging, exciting and fun for the racers and the spectators.
